February's Biggest Wins

February saw more big wins achieved on the slots at Spinz, with titles from Hacksaw Gaming once again dominating the rankings, in particular Wanted Dead or a Wild, which makes no less than seven appearances on this month’s leaderboards.

This time around, NetEnt’s Mega Joker cavorted its way to the top of the monetary wins table with an ironically very serious scoop of €65,967. Although that isn’t quite at the same soaring heights as January’s peak prize of €75,000, won on Alpha Eagle, February’s overall average was stronger, with twice as many players bagging themselves prizes over €20,000.

Looking at multiplier prizes, Big Bamboo from Push Gaming tops the rankings once more, albeit with a much lower multiplier, just x11209.4 compared to January’s extraordinary x28,624.7. The rest of the table meanwhile, sees some new entries from other providers, bringing some more diversity to this month’s top multipliers.

Top 10 Monetary Wins

Mega Joker

Topping the monetary wins table in February was an old-school slot machine from NetEnt that - despite the name - clearly isn’t fooling around. Mega Joker packs high-volatility action and delivered €65,967 from a €10 bet - a 6596.7x multiplier - for with one lucky player from Ireland.

The game is a classic fruit machine played across two separate 3x3 grids. The base game takes place on the lower of these grids and features wild symbols that pay out “Mystery Wins” of 20 to 400 coins when three land on a single payline. There are also treasure chests, offering up even greater riches, 2,000 coins when three of these land on a payline.

In the second grid, is the “Supermeter”, which is activated whenever a winning combo lands on the bottom reels and unlocks an enhanced pay table which replaces the chests with sevens and adds a new symbol, oranges. Best of all, if you’re playing this mode with a 200 coin bet, just one wild symbol on any of the reels will award a “Mystery Win” of anywhere between 100 and 2,000 coins.

Outlaws Inc

While Wanted Dead or a Wild dominated the big win tables last month and continues to do so this month - once again taking the spots for second and third biggest monetary wins - we won’t be covering those again here, instead we’ll be taking a look at a game themed around a very different type of desperado that snuck its way into fourth place on February’s big wins board, Outlaws Inc.

This band of desperados is a biker gang of various animals and - somewhat incongruously - an orc. The cougar and orc symbols increase the game’s multiplier when they land, this multiplier then comes into effect when a gorilla symbol appears. If there’s a winning combo on the board when the gorilla lands, then the multiplier is applied to that win, if not, then unfortunately the multiplier resets to the base 1x.

A star symbol landing awards 1-3 respins. Star boxes also appear in the free spins round, where they can top up your number of free spins or increase the maximum number possible, which can be of great use since star boxes appear fairly often. This free spins round is where the game’s action can really heat up and the most likely road to the game’s max payout of 10,000x the bet.

Hand of Anubis

In Hand of Anubis, soul orbs act as wilds and come with progressive multipliers. The red orb’s multiplier increases by +1 for each symbol in a winning cluster. While the blue orb’s multiplier increases by +1 per winning cluster. The multipliers are applied to any win that the orbs form a part of and are cumulative if more than one orb is on the board.

There are two bonus features to be enjoyed. The first, “Underworld”, is triggered by three scatters. In this feature, multipliers are displayed at the bottom of each reel and are activated by green orbs, which also grant +3 spins when they land. Winning symbols contribute +1 the the multiplier values of the column they land on and jackal skulls increase the multiplier by as much as x10.

The second feature is “Judgement”, where all standard symbols are replaced by blank blocks and a new range of special symbols. Ice blocks shatter and drop a stone block on the grid corresponding to the number shown atop each column. These multipliers can be increased by skull symbols, with silver skulls adding to the multiplier of their column, gold skulls multiplying them and either skull surrounded by light rays applying their benefits to all columns. At the end of the round, all numbered blocks on the grid are collected and their total value awarded.

Gonzo’s Quest Megaways

Big Bamboo and Wanted Dead or a Wild are back in top rankings of highest multiplier wins for a second month in a row with multiplier wins of x11209.4 and x10811.5, respectively, you can read about those in last month’s article. This time though, we’re taking a look at a new entry, Gonzo’s Quest Megaways, which took third place in the rankings with a x9573.39 win.

The game features cascading symbols, with each “Avalanche” of new symbols that takes place increasing the multiplier applied to wins from 1x to 2x, 3x, and finally 5x. The “Earthquake” feature occurs randomly and removes all low-paying symbols from the grid, allowing only high-payers to drop into the spaces created.

Our intrepid conquistador, Gonzo, gets his best shot at finding his own El Dorado of prizes in the free spins round, which is triggered by three scatters and awards nine free spins, with further scatter symbols adding another three spins. During the free spins round the “Avalanche Multiplier” is upped to 3x, 6x, 9x, and 15x.

The Bowery Boys

Another new entry in fourth place, The Bowery Boys is a tale of 19th Century skulduggery set in the mean streets of New York. Its gameplay is based around “all-scatter wins”, meaning that 8 or more of the same symbol on the grid form a win without needing to be on a payline or forming a cluster.

In the base game, Blasting Bomb Multipliers can explode the winnings by as much as 100x, while Strongboxes can offer up as much as 150x the bet if they land with a key to unlock them on the same spin.

There are three bonus features to be explored. The first is Strongbox Storage, in which Strongboxes are collected until a key lands to unlock them all. In Daisy’s Dynamite, dynamite multipliers are collected until they are activated by a detonator appearing on the grid. Lastly there’s Bowery Savings Bank, where for each win, an equal amount is put into a vault to the top-right of the grid, whenever a dollar sign lands, the money stored in the vault is paid out.

Legacy of Dead

This variation on the classic “Book of” format from Play’n GO came in fifth place - possibly helped by its inclusion in our Tournament of the Dead promotion driving more play on the game early in the month. Whatever the case, it delivered a x8832 multiplier win, netting one lucky player a win of €1766.40 from a bet of just €0.20.

The action takes place in an Egyptian temple, typical of the format and complete with flaming braziers to set the mood. In Legacy of Dead, the wild/scatter symbol is a burial chamber and landing three or more of these will award eight free spins. The free spins round begins with a special expanding symbol being chosen at random, as you’d expect in a “Book of” slot, but then come a couple of twists.

The first twist is that this game’s special expanding symbols don’t need to be adjacent to create wins. The second and perhaps most potent is that retriggering another ten free spins during the round comes with an extra boon on top of the spins: it transforms yet another symbol into a special expanding symbol, creating potential for the kinds of wins that make it to these pages.
